Since he won
the Volkskas Young Artists Award in 1987, Clive van den Berg has been
creating works of art that explore the issues of land and light, the
body, its desires (eros) and memory. His oeuvre is characterized by an
expansive range of media, and includes printmaking, drawings in chalk
pastel, acrylic and oil painting, multi-media sculpture, and videography.
Over the years, his work has been gathered together under a series of
headings or themes, each of which expresses a set of questions and concerns
that emerge in relation to the historical present.
